Greetings, Oak Grove Methodist Church!

I am sending out an email in an attempt to catch everyone up on all of the excitement of 2024.

First, we will be having an Administrative Council Meeting on Sunday, April 28th, immediately following worship. All committee chairs are encouraged to attend and everyone is welcome. If you have any information that you would like to share at the meeting, please notify Chair David Leach or Assistant Chair Rev. Brad Humphrey.

We look forward to hearing the word from Pastor Brad this Sunday, April 21. Pastor Brad will be preaching from John titled “See for Yourself.” We also want to thank Pastor Brad and all of those who helped with the remodel of the adult Sunday School classroom. It is larger with new carpet, paint, and TV. The adult Sunday School class meets at 9:00 am and, thanks to Gene and his helpers, there is always fresh coffee and donuts.

We are still in a spirit of worship and celebration in the Easter Season and on April 28, we will resume our sermon series from 1 John “Love is Here.” This series will continue until the celebration of Pentecost on May 19th. We will also be celebrating Mother’s Day on May 12th.

If you haven’t met our new church admin, Sarena Michaels, stop by on a Friday and say hello. She is doing a wonderful job and getting to know the lay of the land. Thanks to lay leader, Elsie Ridgley and all who contributed to the collection for Yvonne. We appreciate her service.

We thank you for your financial gifts and gifts of presence for the first quarter of 2024. Our giving has been strong averaging $1,000 per month more than 2023.

On a personal note, I want to thank everyone for the support and care you have shown for me in the past year. It has been challenging, but my situation shows why we need to be a part of a Christian community in this life. I have notified the school district where I teach that I will not be returning to teach next year. I have enjoyed being a part of the young people’s lives and it has been convenient, but it has served its’ time. The district is going back to a five-day school week next year and I believe my time is better served in Oak Grove.

Lastly, be in prayer for the Global Methodist Movement as it continues to grow. An agenda and delegates are being prepared for the Convening Conference to be held September 20-26, 2024, in San Jose, Costa Rica. We look forward to what God is doing in the GMC, the World, and Oak Grove Methodist Church.
